Quick and Easy Exercises

With your new college workload and your time devoted to organizations you joined, it may be difficult to find time to go to the gym. Here are some exercises you can do at home whileyour watching your favorite show, or during your down time. Hillary Briordy, an
employee at Gold’s Gym, suggests a few home exercises that anyone can do, with no equipment needed.

Squats: Lean on a wall. Spread your feet shoulder-width apart. Slowly slide your back down the wall until your legs make a 90 degree angle. Hold this position for about 10 seconds, then slowly slideback up. Repeat.

Leg Lifts: Lie on your back with your legs extended. Lift your legs simultaneously until they’re perpendicular to the floor. Thenslowly lower them back to the floor. Be sure not to arch your back. After your legs are lowered back to the floor, repeat! You can also do these laying on your side, lifting the upper leg toward the ceiling, and back down.

Crunches: Lie on your back with your legs bent and feet on the floor. Place your hands in comfortable position for you. Most people place them on the sides of their head, folded across their chest, or extended in front of them. Tighten your abdominal muscles to lift your upper body towards your knees. Lower your upper body back down to the floor. Repeat.

Push Ups: Extend your body with your toes and hands on the floor. Your arms should be perpendicular to the floor. Lower your body towards the floor, then push back up and repeat.

Doing these exercises at home during your downtime will help you stay in shape when you can’t make it to the gym. And if you have Comcast, you can even try workouts On Demand!
