Marietta, Ga., will be hosting the 21st Annual Taste of Marietta on April 27, 2014.
The Taste of Marietta is a way for people to come out and try different foods from around the city. In this social environment, you will get to eat, laugh and even play a few games with other people around the community. This annual food festival is held the last Sunday in April to showcase the best restaurants and caterers in Cobb County, Ga.
It is the largest and longest running food festival in Cobb County, Ga., and has become a favored tradition among local residents. Each year Marietta restaurants in Georgia bring their best food so thousands of residents and visitors can enjoy the delights of what makes Marietta. Ga., a popular dining destination.
Last year 70,000 people attended The Taste of Marietta and 2014 is expected to bring around 100,000 people. More than 75 vendors will showcase their best dishes, including Italian, seafood, steak, barbecue and desserts. Prices will range from 50 cents to $5.
This event will be held at the Marietta Square, located at North Park Square and will last from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There will be five live music stages and a sunset concert on the Main Stage in Glover Park. Throughout the day, live music will be performed from local artists.
“A few activities include the taste off judging, chef cooking demonstrations, and a Banks and Shane performance, which is usually the main head-liner for the evening concert. Usually we have around 75 food vendors. If the weather is good, we will have around 80,000 to 100,000 people,” said Katie Peterson from the Marietta Visitors Bureau.
There will be plenty of entertainment for children as well. There will be a Kid’s Alley, with multiple moonwalks and games, sand art, face painting and more.
Participating restaurants will include On The Border, Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers, Smallcakes Cupcakery, Zaxby’s, Greek Tavern, Big Shanty Smokehouse, Cajun Johns Catering, Henry’s Louisiana Grill, Pier 213 Seafood and The Melting Pot Restaurant. Also popular food trucks such as Mighty Meatballs, The Fry Guy, Freckled & Blue and A Moveable Feast will be at the event.
Vendors will only accept cash and no tickets will be given out, but ATMs will be available on site.
Try to carpool since parking will be limited. Parking will be available at the Cobb County Parking Deck and the Mill Street lot. Both parking decks will be free all day for the event. The Historic Marietta Trolley will be running shuttle service from Marietta Middle School once the parking lots on the Marietta Square are full.
