ACWORTH, Ga. —

Wake boarding fans traveled to Dallas Landing Park in Acworth, Georgia, to watch professional wake boarders compete on Lake Allatoona Saturday, June 6. Supra Boats sponsored the event and their boats were used to pull the wake boarders.

The first event of the day was wake surfing. The wake surfer does not use a rope to trail the boat, but instead surfs on the wake created by the boat.

Contestants were allowed three falls over two passes before disqualification. One pass was from the starting buoy to the end buoy, and the second pass was until they reached the initial buoy. Judges scored the wake boarders based on their execution and difficulty of tricks during runs.

Several vendors lined up on the beach and sold various wake boarding items. Spectators could shop for anything from life vests to wake boards.

Following the wake surfing competition, a boat flying an American flag passed by the beach prior to the wake boarding competition as the Pledge of Allegiance played.

One of the vendors on the beach sold hand-painted wake boards. Many fans were drawn to the custom-made boards due to the unusual paintings, such as an owl on the top of a board.
